Tzu Chi preschool hosts open house for SY 2026-2027
By Joy Rojas
In preparation for the coming school year from August 2026 to May 2027, Tzu Chi Great Love Preschool Philippines hosted an open house on April 18 at the foundation’s Agno Street branch in Barangay Doña Josefa, Quezon City. Now on its fifth year, the preschool offers the following programs: Toddler Class (for ages 1.5 to 1.9 years), Junior Nursery (for ages 1.10 to 2.9 years), Senior Nursery (for ages 2.10 to 3.9 years), Prekindergarten (for ages 3.10 to 4.9 years), and After School Care (for ages 2.5 years and up).
The morning event was a chance for parents and their children to get a feel of the preschool that promotes literature-based instruction, developmentally appropriate programs, practical life skills, character building, and Chinese Mandarin language. It also advocates Jing Si Education, or values aligned with the teachings of Tzu Chi founder Dharma Master Cheng Yen.
“We let the students understand, even at a young age, how important it is to embody kindness, gratitude, and helping other people,” says preschool directress Jane Sy.
To achieve that, teachers give students many opportunities to make a difference in their community and be part of the solution in their own little way. Discussions on current events like the ongoing oil crisis, global warming, or a recent calamity end with proactive steps like conserving water at electricity at home, eating plant-based food, and raising money for earthquake victims.
The open house began with a sample class led by Teacher Melinda “Lhean” Angeles. Surrounded by a group of kids, their parents, and the preschool’s teaching staff, she conducted lively interactive singing and storytelling sessions, and encouraged her young audience to participate with expressive sounds and movements. Sy then took the parents on a short tour around the school’s classrooms and outdoor playground, addressing their questions along the way.
Preschool education, according to the World Health Organization, is critical to a child’s academic, emotional, and social growth. In the age when the brain absorbs information like a sponge, it’s imperative to expose youngsters to positive activities and experiences that boost their literacy, problem-solving skills, communication skills, sense of independence, and ability to interact with people outside of their family.
“Our curriculum underscores our commitment in nurturing value-driven kids and academically excellent and prepared students,” says Sy.
Enrollment is ongoing. For more information, visit @Tzu Chi Great Love Preschool Philippines on Facebook.
