A Mother’s Success Story
Despite her lifetime's share of struggles--she lost her son from an illness, was abandoned by her husband and family, and is raising her autistic daughter Gwyneth on her own--Esther Co Yu soldiers on. Through Esther's resourcefulness and unconditional love, Gwyneth has learned how to cook, clean, use a computer, play keyboards, and commute on her own. She also joins Esther in Tzu Chi's upcycling program, creating rugs and seat covers by weaving the excess material of sports socks. Earnings from this undertaking go to a sari-sari store that she and her daughter run. Esther's resilience and tenacity truly inspire.
