Tzu Chi partners with GetKlean to boost vocational training and job placement
By Ben Baquilod
On May 31, Tzu Chi Foundation Philippines signed a Memorandum of Agreement with GetKlean Philippines to bolster its Technical-Vocational Scholarship Program.
This partnership will enhance Tzu Chi’s technical-vocational training and livelihood program by involving GetKlean as an on-the-job training and employment partner for students enrolled in Tzu Chi’s Refrigeration and Airconditioning Course (RAC). This initiative aims to further develop scholars' technical skills, facilitate rapid employment post-graduation, and ensure a stable income.
“The Tzu Chi community is very happy with our GetKlean partnership. This cooperation will open a path for deserving Filipinos to secure a bright future for their families and continue the cycle of goodness,” said Tzu Chi Philippines CEO Henry Yuñez.
Sharing the vision of providing job opportunities, GetKlean CEO Marvin Perol expressed gratitude and excitement about the collaboration. “I treat this partnership as one of our milestones. We are aligned in our mission to help people,” Perol said.
GetKlean, which emerged from the need to provide jobs to its employees after their media business closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, has grown from offering disinfection services to becoming a premier provider of comprehensive cleaning and air conditioning services. With over 200 employees in 100 cities nationwide, GetKlean is committed to using entrepreneurship to help people and alleviate poverty.
“We want to keep providing jobs. By 2027, our target is to employ 1,000 people,” Perol added.
Tzu Chi’s Technical-Vocational Scholarship Program aims to give underprivileged Filipinos a chance to gain employable skills. The program combines lectures with hands-on training and offers generous benefits: free tuition, meals, school supplies, transportation allowance, and an assessment fee with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), all covered by Tzu Chi.
Since 2018, the program has served 1,041 scholars and created jobs that uplifted the lives of poor Filipino families.
“With GetKlean, we pray that our Technical Vocational Training Program will be more successful, enabling our scholars to find gainful employment and empowering them to continue the cycle of compassionate relief,” Yuñez concluded.
