Angel of Sight Program had its Ceremonial Signing

On August 29, 2023, the Department of Education held their first day of school in Zamboanga City. To mark the opening of public schools, the Angel of Sight Program had its Ceremonial Signing at Great Hope Hall. This program aims to provide corrective eye wear for students from public schools in the city.
Under this program, DepEd Nurses will be conducting initial assessments for students before referring them to the Tzu Chi Great Love Eye Center for further evaluation by medical doctors. Tzu Chi will also provide reading glasses to students in need after the medical evaluation of medical doctors.
In addition, Tzu Chi's commitment to environmental sustainability is showcased through the students' participation in the recycling program. By giving pet bottles to Tzu Chi, they contribute to the organization's recycling efforts, promoting a cleaner and greener environment.
Despite the challenges posed by the ongoing pandemic, we are thrilled to re-launch the Angel of Sight Program in partnership with Zamboanga City Medical Center and the Department of Education – Zamboanga City. The Ceremonial Signing held at Great Hope Hall was a momentous occasion, attended by Tzu Chi Zamboanga Volunteers, DepEd Nurses, DepEd officials, and ZCMC officials.
Dr. Anton Mari H. Lim, the head volunteer of Tzu Chi Zamboanga, expressed his joy in welcoming our partners and highlighted the importance of early detection of corrective eye sight. Dr. Aeesha M. Yahcob – Pingli, Chief Medical Staff II of Zamboanga City Medical Center, echoed Dr. Lim's sentiments and emphasized how the Angel of Sight Program would greatly benefit students in their studies. ZCMC has been a tremendous support to this program.
Division Superintendent Dr. Majarani M. Jacinto also acknowledged the significance of the Angel of Sight Program for the students and expressed her hope to extend this assistance not only to students but also to teachers.
This milestone could not have been achieved without the active participation and support of our partners, the Department of Education – Zamboanga City and Zamboanga City Medical Center. We are grateful for their commitment to this program and their dedication to the well-being of the students.
